Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 1

Book of Small Prophet Micah

Chapter 1

1. The word of the LORD came to Micah of Moresheth in the days of Kings Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem

(Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 1 verse 1)

Oh God my Father, when You choose to pass on a message to the world or to us in particular, You can choose any person, may he or she be popular, or even by common people as myself. We are all instruments in Your hand oh God my Father. As You gave Your Word to Micah You could also be giving it to us. The secret is to remain tuned to the same wavelength by keeping in a relationship, with You. Amen.

2. Hear, you peoples, all of you; listen and let the Lord God be a witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple. 3. For lo, the LORD is coming out of his place, and will come down and tread upon the high places of the earth.

(Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 1 verses 2 to 3)

Oh God, the day will come when the superpowers of the world will be no more, for You will destroy them because there will not be any need of military powers. You will humble the proud and will honour the humble Amen.

4. Then the mountains will melt under him and the valleys will burst open like wax near the fire, like waters poured down a steep place.

(Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 1 verse 4)

Oh God my Father nobody can match You in power and might when You display Your might nobody can dare to stop You or stand before You Amen.

5. All this is for the transgression of Jacob and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? Is it not Samaria? And what is the high place of Judah? Is it not Jerusalem? 6. Therefore I will make Samaria a heap in the open country, a place for planting vineyards. I will pour down her stones into the valley, and uncover her foundations.

(Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 1 verses 5 to 6)

Oh God, my Father our sins are always before You. You are aware of them and will avenge us of them one by one. Yours is the victory over our sins. You love us oh God my Father but not our sins. Thank You, God, my Father.

7. All her images shall be beaten to pieces, all her wages shall be burned with fire, and all her idols I will lay waste: for as the wages of a prostitute she gathered them, and as the wages of a prostitute they shall again be used.

(Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 1 verse 7)

Oh God, my Father I pray that You also cleanse our hearts and minds from the negative idols of our life, the negative images from porn sites, the occult and other contaminated sources so that we will be free in both hearts, mind and spirit. I pray that You replace such idols and images with those of Your own. May we focus on the bloody passion that You endured on our behalf and reflect on what a price was needed to purchase our salvation Amen

8. For this I will lament and wail; I will go barefoot and naked;  I will make lamentation like the jackals, and mourning like the ostriches. 9. For her wound is incurable. It has come to Judah; it has reached to the gate of my people, to Jerusalem.

(Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 1 verses 8 to 9)

Oh God my Father if the prophet takes the sins of the people on himself and shows deep lamentation for them You show more feelings of sorrow, so much that You chose to be crucified for us Amen.

10. Tell it not in Gath, weep not at all; in Beth-leaphrah roll yourselves in the dust. 11. Pass on your way, inhabitants of Shaphir, in nakedness and shame; the inhabitants of Zaanan do not come forth; Beth-ezel is wailing and shall remove its support from you.

(Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 1 verses 8 to 9)

Oh God my Father, the message of the 'Good News' of the 'Kingdom' has a different impact on different people. Some may feel guilt leading to repentance, while others may continue in their ways, while others will still remain unaffected. I pray that I may not be accounted with the last group oh God my Father, may we all feel the need to be reconciled with You Amen.

10. Tell it not in Gath, weep not at all in Beth-leaphrah roll yourselves in the dust, 11. Pass on your way inhabitants of Shaphir, in nakedness and shame; the inhabitants of Zaanan do not come forth; Beth-ezel is wailing and shall remove its support from you.

(Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 1 verses 10 to 11)

Oh God my Father that I may truly repent from my sins, which bring me shame. I pray that as in the case of Adam and Eve You cover up my nakedness and give new life to me. Oh God things are happening so fast I cannot keep up with them. First, a person bumped into my car on purpose, now a police fine and pending there is a new job that I had hoped to start on a fresh start, without the thought of having to take leave to contest the fine. I cannot understand why such events are happening at this critical time of my life Amen. I still thank You for such happenings, for You permitted them to happen for some reason Amen.

12. For the inhabitants of Maroth wait anxiously for good, yet disaster has come down from the LORD to the gate of Jerusalem.

(Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 1 verses 12)

Oh God my Father many times because we think we are good people, we expect only or generally good things to happen to us. We become confused and frustrated when negative things happen to us. However, You love us all in the same way. Therefore You do not discriminate between what happens to the 'Good People' and to the 'Not so Good People' because at heart we are all humans and this means we are all sinners Amen.

13. Harness the steeds to the chariots, inhabitants of Lachish; it was the beginning of Sin to daughter Zion, for in you were found the transgressions of Israel.

(Book of Small Prophets Chapter 1 verse 13)

Oh God, this is the day, when we make a firm decision to stop practising that negative behaviour that leads us to sin. Let us all fly away from such situations without turning back in regret, regardless if its alcohol, drugs, gambling, porn, whatever, this is the day of liberation. Let in the power of the Holy Spirit and be freed in the name of Jesus Amen.

14. Therefore you shall give parting gifts to Moresheth-gath; the houses of Achzib shall be a deception to the kings of Israel.

(Book of Small Prophets Chapter 1 verse 14)

Oh God my Father You are telling me to say goodbye to all that keeps me apart from You. Anything that keeps me away from You I am to consider as being evil and negative, while anything that You approve is to be approved by me Amen.

15. I will again bring a conqueror upon you, inhabitants of Mareshah; the glory of Israel shall come to Adullam. 16. Make yourselves bald and cut off your hair for your pampered children; make yourselves as bald as the eagle, for they have gone from you into exile.

(Book of Small Prophets Chapter 1 verses 15 to 16)

Oh God my Father to this very day You are calling us to repent and turn back from our ways. This calls for a leap of faith and trust in You in a spirit of humility thus accepting the fact that we have sinned against You. However, although we have sinned we seek repentance Amen. May we all be that humble oh God my Father while and turn back from our ways while we still have the opportunity Amen.

Oh God my Father I would like to end the first chapter of the book of Micah with the following prayer:

Oh God my Father in the name of the whole world including myself, I express deep sorrow and repentance for the sins of the whole world. For those that have been done in the past, and also for those that will be done in the future, for although years may pass we remain humans who if left to our own agendas are prone to sin. I thank You for making us aware of our transgressions and pray that we become more responsible for our actions and seek honest repentance and contrition of our sins Amen.
